Child Protection & Safeguarding

The safety of pupils at the school is our first priority. We carefully vet staff, supply teachers, volunteers and governors. Staff are regularly trained in child protection and safeguarding procedures. Our policies and practice reflect both the statutory guidelines and advice, and a common sense approach.

For every school trip we carry out a full risk assessment, our premises and playground are regularly checked by both internal and external staff, and we have staff at the entrance to the playground at both the start and end of the day.
Within the school we closely monitor absences and persistent lateness to identify any possible issues, and monitor children’s behaviour and any changes in physical or emotional appearance. We work with a variety of external partners from social care through to the local NHS in addition to services and safeguards provided by school staff.

The ethos of the school is open so that staff, parents and children feel able to share concerns.
How can parents help with keeping children safe?

  • Make sure all addresses and contact numbers are up to date by informing the school office if your details change
  • If someone different is picking your child up, please let us know
  • Be at school on time every day at 9am and 3.30pm
  • Notify the school about your child’s absence
  • Take full note of the advice to parents if you are accompanying a class trip and ensure that you attend any pre-meetings
